1272669280 How do the English feel about Andy Murray?I have been watching the rise of Andy Murray for the last 2 years and feel that the bloke is an incredible talent. His recent performance against Federer only goes to prove his talent. But, i struggle to support him, even though his is under the Great Britiain team. He came out and said that he would not support England in the World Cup and complains that he is not supported enough in the English press, so why should the English support him. Respect his talent, as i do with any of the world’s best players, but supporting him is too much. What do you feel?

1272658474 Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt Produce Show for Snooki's ExThis might be the worst idea we’ve ever heard

Barf. It’s as though all the douchebags of America are coming together. Spencer Pratt’s production company, Pratt Productions, will be producing a dating show to help Snooki’s ex-boyfriend, Emilio Masella, find love. And Heidi Montag is the executive producer!

Even the name of the show is enough to make you feel sick. The show will be called Fist Pumping for Love and will star none other than the Jersey Shore Snooki’s ex-boyfriend, Emilio Masella. Now that Snooki broke up with him over voicemail, he’s clearly in the market for love

According to Emilio to RadarOnline.com, “I can’t wait to meet a real Italian woman… I’m waiting for one with a sexy accent.” So basically, he just means not Snooki, right?

And Spencer? He says, “It is the perfect partnership for me as a growing player in reality television… You haven’t seen nothing yet.” Since when is Spencer a growing player in reality television? Last we heard, he was kicked off The Hills!

We have no idea where this show will air or if it even will as we can’t imagine Spencer actually doing anything other than trying to screw people over. Oh, and filming allegedly already started in Masella’s favorite local bar… So we’re guessing things can’t be too professional here. Not to mention, we’d love to hear what Heidi Montag is doing as executive producer!

Oh, and you know Snooki is going to be mad. Really mad. Not only was she originally pissed that Emilio tried out for the Real World and was going to steal her fame, but she’s been wanting to do a dating show for a while, too. And her show was to be called “Snookin for Love.” Sounds a little bit too close for comfort, huh? We hope we get to see a Snooki fit!

1272654872 How much additional money is Danica Patrick making with her looks? This is a hypothetical question here. If Danica had no looks and was uglier than dirt but had the SAME racing skills how much less money would she make? Basically I am wondering how much her looks are worth alone.

1272651278 Few takers for before and after school care Posted By MICHELLE RUBY Updated 3 days ago

With fees set significantly higher than community daycare centres, there aren’t many takers for before-and after-school care for kindergarten students being offered by the Grand Erie District School Board.

At a meeting Monday, Jim Wibberley, the board’s director of education, said “interest is slim to nil” in after-hours care the Ministry of Education is forcing school boards to provide as part of the new full-day kindergarten program.

Wibberley said the lack of interest was expected given that the board set its fees at $35 a day. That’s more than double most local daycares charge for the service.

The ministry has said that before-school care, beginning at 7 a.m. and after-school care, ending at 6 p.m., must be provided for kindergarten students where there is a need.

Although Wibberley and other directors of education in Ontario have suggested it makes sense to partner with daycares in the community, the ministry has insisted school boards provide after-hours care as part of a “seamless day” for the province’s youngest students.

“Parents can get more cost-effective care in the community,” said Wibberley.

Many childcare providers are worried about losing significant business in the wake of the full-day kindergarten program, which will be offered in nine Grand Erie schools and four Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board schools in September. Many of the schools are offering more than one class.

The program will be rolled out to every school within five years. Under the new plan, teachers will work with early childhood educators in the classroom.

Superintendent of business Jamie Gunn said the board has to charge $35 a day for after-hours care just to break even. The high cost, he said, is due mainly to the higher hourly rate they will have to pay ECEs and that the school board is required to have two staff members in each class.

But some trustees don’t think the province is going to accept school boards’ not offering before-and aftercare because high fees have discouraged interest.

“There is going to be fallout from this,” said trustee Bill Johnston. “They’re going to do something.”

1272647667 Rob Lowe Heading to 'Parks & Recreation' TV SquadWeeks ago when it was announced that Rob Lowe was leaving ABC’s ‘Brothers and Sisters,’ the spin from ABC was that they desperately wanted to keep Rob in the fold and would be working to develop a new television project for him.

Guess what? That was all a lot of hooey. Or exaggeration to the point of sounding more optimistic than true. Today, Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly reported that Rob Lowe will be joining the NBC sitcom, ‘Parks and Recreation.’ This is a great move by Rob, turning to comedy rather than jumping into another dramatic series. And if you think Rob’s not good at comedy, you don’t remember his letter-perfect imitation of Robert Wagner’s character #2 — as a younger man — in ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.”

As for what he’ll be doing on ‘Parks and Recreation,’ that has yet to be revealed. He’s expected to be in some episodes at the end of this season and definitely next season. Since the show revolves around small town politics in Pawnee, Indiana, perhaps Rob will be a local pol. Perhaps someone who will cross swords with Ron Swanson or Leslie Knope and the Parks and Recreation Department?

Rob has the politics vibe down pat, having played a U.S. senator on ‘Brothers and Sisters’ and the Deputy Communications Director Sam Seaborn in ‘The West Wing.’

1272640471 Gilliam's 'Don Quixote' Still Struggling, Colin Farrell Not Interested

Nearly a decade after a first attempt at the project, Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is sadly not much closer to being finished.

Though pre-production on a new version of the film has been ongoing since last year, and Robert Duvall has been officially cast as Quixote (sort of), casting and financial obstacles continue to keep Gilliam fans from seeing this long-gestating film based on the classic Miguel de Cervantes novel.

The latest update comes from Duvall, who spoke to Movieline about the film, its legendarily cursed director (“he’s a wacko”) and Colin Farrell (a.k.a. “the Irish guy who was in Crazy Heart“), who apparently turned down the chance rework with Gilliam (following his assist as a Heath Ledger stand-in for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) and play Duvall’s sidekick, Sancho Panza (sort of).

Colin Farrell as one of Heath Ledger’s fantasy doppelgangers in Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

With the original choice, Johnny Depp, unavailable, Duvall would like the role to go to someone who’s like a young Danny DeVito. But in order to get the money, Gilliam needs a star. Duvall went on to reveal the status of the casting process along with other developments:

“He’s going after two people now, but he doesn’t want to say who they are until after he gets them. But it’s been six months he’s been after people. And it’s a bigger budget than his others. And he doesn’t stick to a budget, they say. He goes on and on. And he’s got locations picked out in Spain. So it’ll be very exciting.”

The Oscar-winner looks forward to preparing for his role, which will entail riding horseback every day. But he says he can’t start on that until Don Quixote is really greenlit. Duvall claims that his character in the film is a Latin village shoemaker cast to portray Quixote in a TV commercial who then believes he’s the real (well, fictional) delusional attacker of windmills.

Robert Duvall in the upcoming Get Low

Does this mean that he also travels through time, like the screenwriter character Toby Grisoni, who ends up mistaken for Panza? Never mind. If you’re confused, you’re in the same boat as Duvall:

“I don’t even understand the script, totally, because he’s just so out there, Gilliam. You know, with dwarfs on the ground and everything. I told him, ‘You can’t have too many dwarfs!’ [Laughs] But it was nice. We spent half an afternoon talking, and then he went on.”

Gilliam apparently cast Duvall after seeing the actor play a Cuban barber in Wrestling Ernest Hemingway. As for reciprocal familiarity, Duvall admits to having seen Lost in La Mancha, the heartbreaking documentary that came out of the filmmaker’s first attempt to make The Man Who Killed Don Quixote with Depp and Jean Rochefort back in 2000.

Let’s hope that that Gilliam finds his Grisoni/Panza soon, so that Duvall can get back in the saddle and we can look forward to finally seeing The Man Who Killed Don Quixote whenever (I don’t want to say “if ever,” but it’s not inappropriate given Gilliam’s track record) it hits theaters.

Do you have any preferences for who should co-star with Duvall?

1272636888 'American Idol' alum Margo May of KC celebrates her first full length album

Her music resume includes a trip to Hollywood and a swing at fame via Season 9 of “American Idol.”

Now Kansas City singer/songwriter Margo May can add “first full-length record released” to her list of accomplishments with “Summer Of,” a collection of breezy, folk-pop songs that has been available online for several weeks.

May will celebrate the release of the hard-copy/CD version of the album with a performance Friday at the Fishtank.

May recently answered some questions about her music, her music tastes and her “Idol” experience.

Q. Who are some of your favorite songwriters, and not just those whose style you admire and who may have influenced you, but others whose music has little in common with yours?

A. Chan Marshall of Cat Power, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Mirah, Joan Jett, Thom Yorke, Otis Redding, anything from the Beatles, Elliott Smith, and I can’t leave out Emmylou Harris.

What prompts you to write?

Usually nature and energy from the place in which I am living: the city and my surroundings, who in my life is influencing me at the time, whether it is a heartbreak or a broken friendship. I need to be more proactive about reading, but the cinema really opens my mind to new ideas for songs. Having a song in a film is a dream of mine.

Which is harder to write, a good lyric or a catchy melody?

Generally, it is harder for me to write a good catchy melody, something that really sticks in your brain. Lately I write the lyrics first and then try to discover a melody just as fitting.

Talk about the “Idol” experience. What was the best and the worst thing about it? What of value did you learn from it?

The best thing about it was getting the chance to sing in front of people in the music industry who literally make millions when they write a song for a performer. It boosted my self-confidence, made me realize that I really was chosen because I was different.

On the other hand, it was the most challenging thing I have ever done. The competition was insane. I had never heard voices that loud before. I had to plug my ears a lot, because people would try to be singing over each other.

I really hope and pray I can sing with some of the people I met again in our futures.

Also, the producers, along with Kara (DioGuardi, one of the judges), were really interested in my songwriting style, which gives me hope for an album. I would love to write for other people, too.

Name one or two performers whom you haven’t seen who are on your “bucket list” of live shows.

Such a hard question. Definitely Bjork or maybe Lady Gaga. I need to be entertained. I just wanna sit there and let my mind and eyes wander.

friday Margo May performs at

7 p.m. Friday at the Fishtank, 1715 Wyandotte St. The $10 admission includes a copy of the album. Visit fishtanktheater.

May will also perform at 10 p.m. May 7 at the RecordBar, 1020 Westport Road. Kirsten Paludan and the Nadas are also on the bill.

1272629664 Jessica Biel Makes It to Miami | TwitterGlitter.com

Having taken a day-breaking flight out of LAX Airport in Los Angeles earlier in the day, Jessica Biel was spotted jetting into Miami International Airport on Friday (April 23).

Making for quite the long morning of traveling, the “Powder Blue” bag tiredly toted her belongings out to an awaiting car for transport to a nearby hotel.

Meanwhile, Jessica continues to look forward to what will be a busy summer of promoting, as on June 11th she’ll usher in the release of the Joe Carnahan directed movie “The A-Team”.

Co-starring Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson, the film finds “a group of Iraq War veterans looking to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.”

1272622464 Another long day on course for Danica Patrick

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Another day, another finish in which Danica Patrick seemed to fall further from relevance. The most popular driver of the IZOD IndyCar Series, and the only woman to win a major closed course race, Patrick finished 16th in the 36th running of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

It’s the third time in four races Patrick has failed to finish better than 15th; she took seventh at St. Petersburg in the second race of the season.

Patrick qualified 20th and was one of only three drivers to incorporate a three-stop strategy.

Performance-wise dating to last season, she clearly has been miserable.

In her last five races of 2009, she had only one top-10 finish. Though she finished fifth in the series championship, she was closer to 10th place than she was fourth place.

Over her last nine IndyCar races, she has two top-10s, including sixth in last year’s race at Motegi, site of her historic victory in 2008, when Helio Castroneves ran out of fuel on the last lap. However, seven of her last nine finishes have been 12th or worse.

And that doesn’t include her performances in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, where she finished 35th at Daytona, 31st at California Speedway and 36th at Las Vegas.

All wasn’t lost, though. On Lap 66 on Sunday she made the most significant pass of her season when she slipped past Simona de Silvestro in Turn 1. De Silvestro, one of three females who started the race, finished 17th. Milka Duno was pulled off after 10 laps.

The rookie de Silvestro, who may not be able to run the whole season for the small Team Stargate Worlds/HVM Racing, has out-qualified Patrick in all four races and had generally run better in the first three races.

In fact, de Silvestro contended for a top-10 spot in each of the first three races before a mechanical issue cost her at Brazil (where she led four laps), Graham Rahal hit her from behind at St. Petersburg, and she spun on her own at Barber Motorsports Park. She was not a factor in Long Beach.

“Today’s race was definitely challenging,” said Patrick, who became a media sensation with a fourth-place finish in her inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 2005. “It’s been a frustrating weekend all around for the No. 7 car.”

The next race is at Kansas Speedway, where she finished fifth last year, and then Indianapolis, where she has been exceedingly strong.

“The thing that’s more important is that Andretti Autosport got their first win,” Patrick said. “We went without a win last year and we all struggled a lot. It’s good for morale to get that win. We have to figure out what [Ryan Hunter-Reay's] doing that we’re not.”

Wilson’s finish

If you’re looking for a driver who can make a difference, look no further than Justin Wilson.

The Brit’s second-place performance Sunday was the highest finish for the small-budget Dreyer & Reinbold team since owner Robbie Buhl won at Walt Disney World in the first race of the 2000 season.

Last year, driving for another small team, he provided Dale Coyne Racing its first victory in its 23rd year of competition.

Diversity of success

There were 17 cars on the lead lap at the end of the race, and four different teams were represented in the top four finishing positions: Andretti Autosport (Hunter-Reay), Dreyer & Reinbold (Wilson), Team Penske (Will Power) and Target Chip Ganassi (Scott Dixon).

Franchitti struggles

Defending race winner and series champion Dario Franchitti struggled throughout the day and was unable to improve on his 12th-place starting position.

“Disastrous weekend for us,” said Franchitti, who is fifth in points with teammate Dixon, 60 behind Power. “Not what we expected at all. We got as high as 10th but struggled all day.”

Indy Lights race

Canadian James Hinchcliffe started on the pole and led wire-to-wire in the 45-lap Firestone Indy Lights race. Hinchcliffe held off one of two Americans in the race, Charlie Kimball of Camarillo driving for AFS Racing/Andretti Autosport, who finished 0.83 of a second behind the winner.

“I made a couple [of mistakes], but they were small enough that nobody noticed,” said Hinchcliffe, the driver for Team Moore Racing. “Yellows kept coming out and coming out. … Luckily we held up. I knew Charlie was right there, both these guys did a great job.”

J.K. Vernay took third for Sam Schmidt Motorsports, 1.2 seconds behind the winner.

It’s Kimball’s second consecutive second-place finish, and the first time Vernay failed to win.

Kimball said he did his best but also that he wasn’t going to take any unnecessary chances at trying to pass.

“I threw everything in the kitchen sink at him,” Kimball said. “I’m playing the championship game a little bit.”

Vernay maintained his lead in the championship and holds a 28-point lead over Kimball. Hinchcliffe is third, 41 points behind.

Sebastian Saavedra, driving for Bryan Herta of Valencia, was fourth.
