1273958076 Desi Hits.com News Jay Sean and Ciara Are 'Riding It'

There are quite a few artists who have been inspired by others in the industry. Just look at Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” that sampled Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” and Christina Aguilera’s video “Not Myself Tonight” that looks just like any old Lady GaGa clip!

Well now R&B songstress Ciara is making her come back with the single “Ride” and we immediately thought of Jay Sean’s chart topping hit “Ride It.” Ciara’s single “Ride” features rapper Ludacris and the video has already created some buzz. With suggestive lyrics and heart pounding moves, we think Ciara is trying is a little too hard, but she’s hot! Just listen to the lyrics, “They love the way I ride it…”

Jay Sean hit us with his single “Ride It” a few years ago and we can’t help but think that Ciara was inspired by the track. Maybe she thought she was taking the subtle lyrics to the next level with her own style? Jay keeps his song sexy and smooth and we appreciate the subtlety.

Both Ciara and Jay Sean have created slick videos! Jay Sean’s tasteful “Ride It” may have been the spark that inspired Ciara’s sexy “Ride.” What do you think about the similarities between the two videos? Do you have a preference?

Colbert, House's odd relationship

NEW YORK – The funniest relationship on TV might be the clandestine, cross-network affair between “The Colbert Report” and “House.”

If you look carefully, you can spot a small, framed photograph of Hugh Laurie, the star of Fox’s “House,” on the set of Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report.” “House” has reciprocated the gesture with a photo of Colbert that sits on Dr. Gregory House’s desk.

On Monday’s “Report,” Stephen Colbert said House’s photo sits on his shelf because he’s a huge fan of the TV doctor.

“House and I have a lot in common,” Colbert, in mock pundit character, said on the show. “We both refuse to play by the rules, never consider the consequences of our actions, and are horribly abusive to our staffs.

“In the end, we’re both always right.”

The shelf behind Colbert’s C-shaped desk contains a collection of odd objects that he has found reason to keep by some twist of the show’s bizarre comedic meanderings. The House photo currently rests, Colbert noted, “in a place of honor next to my coin purse made from a bull scrotum.”

Colbert first placed the photo on his set in June 2006 after Colbert (the real one) received an honorary degree from Knox College. This made him a doctor, Colbert claimed, and next to his degree, he placed photos of three other TV doctors: House, Noah Wyle from “ER,” and Dr. Cliff Huxtable from “The Cosby Show.”

The House photo (now more visible because “The Report” broadcasts in high-definition) has stuck around, Colbert said in a recent interview, because the show noticed it would frequently show up on camera over his shoulder.

“We said we’ve got to keep that — we can’t get rid of the picture of House,” he said.

Fitting connectionWhen he saw that “House” responded in kind, Colbert said he was “honored because I’m such a fan.”

Laurie didn’t respond to requests for his perspective on the gesture.

The connection between the two fictional characters is fitting because it mirrors a real-life link. Both are comedians with a fondness for wordplay and an extraordinary talent for embodying a character.

American audiences are less familiar with Laurie’s earlier sketch comedy work on British television, including the beloved, acclaimed series “Blackadder” and “A Bit of Fry and Laurie,” and his portrayal of P.G. Wodehouse’s empty-headed Bertie Wooster in the PBS series “Jeeves and Wooster.” Colbert says he’s particularly a fan of “A Bit of Fry and Laurie,” which co-starred Stephen Fry (also Laurie’s co-star in “Jeeves”).

“I love it when people say, ‘Oh, I saw Hugh Laurie on “SNL.” He was funny!’” said Colbert. “Yes, there was something he did before ‘House.’”

But that’s background that Colbert — or Laurie — would never even wink at on TV. No, instead Colbert continues to play up his character’s love of “House.”

“I spend a lot of time praising the larger-than-life figures who shape our nation, be they President Bush, Vice President Cheney or House,” Colbert said on a 2006 show. “When will that hospital learn just to trust his instincts? They already give him the hopeless cases.”

Need a distraction? (Of course you do, that’s why you’re here.)

FEARnet.com does something cool called “FEAR Wednesdays,” where it posts 20 free streaming horror/thriller flicks each week. Today the site has quite a menu: The Devil’s Rejects, Saw IV: The Director’s Cut, Leprechaun 5: In the Hood.

My recommendation? A cheesy 1989 horror film called Cutting Class, which stars Brad Pitt in his first major role. (It also stars Donovan Leitch, Roddy McDowall and Martin Mull.) Wall of Voodoo contributes several songs to the soundtrack. I’m not saying this is a good movie, but it’ll probably make you chuckle.

And Brad looks like this:

1273925666 Nightly News: DeNiro Joins 'Killer Elite'; Latest From the Wachowskis; Cannes NewsRobert De Niro gets to play another of his trademarked hard-nosed spy/killers (think ‘Ronin’) in the international action thriller ‘The Killer Elite.’ According to Variety, De Niro will star opposite Jason Statham and Clive Owen in a $66 million production based on Ranulph Fiennes’ 1993 nonfiction book ‘The Feather Men,’ which follows a group of black ops agents for hire, who must hunt down and destroy a rogue cell of assassins. De Niro will play the mentor to Statham’s character, who comes out of retirement when De Niro is kidnapped by the bad guys. The film began shooting in Melbourne this week. “Killer Elite” also stars Dominic Purcell, Yvonne Strahovski, Ben Mendelsohn, Aden Young and newcomer Firass Dirani.

According to a report at Deadline Hollywood, those wacky Wachowski brothers (who brought you the monumental ‘Matrix’ trilogy, then foundered with ‘Speed Racer’) are pitching a new script that harkens — in a way — to their 1996 lesbian thriller ‘Bound’ (starring Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon). They’re circulating a script that “focuses on a ‘hard R’ homosexual relationship between a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi. It’s a cinema verite-style treatment that begins in the near future and then spans back over years that include the current war in Iraq,” Deadline Hollywood said. The brothers are keen to direct it and have the project out to the moneymen.

More woes for Roman Polanski. British actress Charlotte Lewis has come forward with allegations of sexual abuse by the director, according to a report at TheWrap. At a press conference on Friday in Los Angeles, Lewis alleged that Polanski “sexually abused me in the worst possible way when I was just 16 years old, four years after he fled the United States to avoid sentencing for his crime” (Polanski is fighting extradition to the U.S., where he faces sentencing in a 1977 case involving sex with a 13-year-old girl.) Polanski “met me and forced himself upon me in his apartment in Paris” in 1982, she said. According to the report, Lewis said she came forward because she heard that as part of Polanski fighting extradition to the U.S., “his legal team is portraying his previous offense against a minor as an isolated incident.”

Paul Dano, who played the offbeat preacher who met a nasty end in ‘There Will Be Blood’ has been added to the cast of Jon Favreau’s ‘Cowboys & Aliens,’ a sci-fi Western in which settlers and Indians must set aside differences to fend off an alien invasion. Already cast in the film, according to Deadline Hollywood, is Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Noah Ringer, Keith Carradine and Clancy Brown. The film starts production next month in New Mexico for a 2011 release’

FROM CANNES: Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Bruce Willis is joining the cast of ‘Looper,’ a science fiction time travel film starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, about futuristic hit men, called Loopers, “whose victims are sent back in time from the future to be executed. The Loopers bump them off in the present, so there is no trace of a crime in the future.” Willis and Gordon-Levitt will play the same character, in different time frames.

Pierce Brosnan, Billy Bob Thornton, Maria Bello and Giovanni Ribisi are joining Walter Hill’s ‘St. Vincent,’ a crime thriller about a hit man (Brosnan) who goes undercover as a priest to get close to his target, a gangland traitor (Thornton). The hit man soon discovers that playing the good guy is more dangerous than being a mob killer. The film begins shooting in July in Detroit. [Variety]

James Wong, director and creator of ‘Final Destination,’ is getting ready to write and direct a remake of Yasuo Inoue’s ‘The Neighbor Number 13,’ a Japanese film that tells the story of a young boy who witnesses an extreme case of school yard bullying that stays with him as he grows up until he eventually takes “justice” into his own hands. [THR]

Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey, who produced the exquisite indie film ‘An Education,’ have received financial backing for an adaptation of Nick Hornby’s bestselling ‘A Long Way Down.’ The dark comedy follows two women and two men who meet on New Year’s Eve on the roof of a tall building with the intent of killing themselves, but as they interact with each other, they turn away from their suicidal thoughts. Hornby, by the way, adapted the screenplay for ‘An Education.’ [Variety]

Danny Huston, no stranger to playing villains and all around nasty men, will turn around and play a different character in ‘Playoff,’ a sports drama from Israeli director Eran Riklis, based on the real-life story of Israeli basketball coach Ralph Klein. Huston will play the Holocaust survivor who, after coaching Tel Aviv to victory in the European basketball championships, gets a call to train the German national team. [THR]

Cannes Short Takes:
Stanley Tucci and Carla Gugino have joined the cast of ‘Margin Call,’ which also stars Kevin Spacey and Zachary Quinto, a film set at a bank during the 2008 financial meltdown … Sundance Channel and IFC Films are joining forces to release Olivier Assayas’ ‘Carlos,’ a 5 1/2-hour portrait of terrorist Carlos the Jackal, in the U.S. … London-based Ealing Studios is putting together a biopic about legendary jazz singer Nina Simone, best remembered for her sensuous rendition of ‘I Put a Spell on You.’ Mary J. Blige would play Simone.

1273918464 Is Ashton Kutcher's Reign as Twitter King Ending?

Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears

There’s twouble in the Twitterverse!

After famously beating CNN to 1 million followers last April, Ashton Kutcher has been the undisputed king of Twitter, gaining more followers than anyone else on the micro-blogging site. But are his days as Twitter’s most popular user numbered?

Britney Spears is slowly closing in on Kutcher – and the gap between their number of followers gets smaller every day. (At the time of this posting, Kutcher had 4,890,797 followers; Spears had 4,878,516). While Kutcher is the only person who Tweets on his account (several times each day), Spears only sporadically posts on her Twitter account, along with her manager Adam Leber.

Now, the big question remains: If Spears does beat Kutcher, will she ding-dong ditch his doorstep the way Kutcher promised to do to CNN honcho Ted Turner?

1273914871 Iker Casillas wants Manuel Pellegrini to stay for Madrid stability Europe

Iker Casillas has called for Manuel Pellegrini to continue at Real Madrid “long-term” amid rumours the club could be set for yet another new manager in the form of Jose Mourinho.

Iker Casillas is tired of seeing quick fixes installed at the Bernabeu

Mourinho earlier this week said it was inevitable he would one day take charge of Real, but with the team entering the decisive weekend in the Primera Division title race and still capable of reclaiming the trophy from Barcelona, Casillas called for some rare stability.

Casillas, who turns 29 next week, should know a thing or two about Madrid’s recent history, having been at the club his whole career and watching on as countless players and managers have come and gone from his vantage point between the posts. He doesn’t want to witness another overhaul just because the current team hasn’t reached unrealistic expectations.

“I hope this project is allowed to grow and gain confidence,” he said. “We are a new team. There were many changes within the club, a new coach arrived as did many new players. We are on the right track, but because so much is demanded of Real Madrid there is not enough time. The long-term project is a good one.

“I find Pellegrini as calm as always, like it’s his first day here. He is very coherent and we stand by him. He and I have a close relationship, but I don’t decide what happens. My job is to save balls.”

Casillas praised the influence of Cristiano Ronaldo on the squad, after the Portugal forward scored 26 goals in 28 league matches so far this season following his world record 80million move from Manchester United.

The Spain goalkeeper added: “When you see Cristiano Ronaldo you notice the effort this club has made to bring the best players in the world. He is strong, spirited and has a winning attitude. He gives the team an extra gear and has the winning attitude demanded by Real Madrid. He is similar to Camacho, Pirri, Santilla and Juanito in that regard. They always wanted to win, just like Cristiano does.”

Casillas also had words of praise for city rivals Atletico Madrid following their midweek Europa League success over Fulham in Hamburg.

“I am very happy for Atletico Madrid because I am a Madrid native and I love it when the spotlight is on this city,” said Casillas. “Our derbies are always a lot of fun. I must admit I was supporting them in the final. I am happy for their fans because they were able to take to the streets to celebrate for the first time in a long time.”

Prince William to Wed? RAF Mate to be Bridesmaid? | Fashion Blog ...

    Photo from fOTOGLIF

According to Tina Brown, biographer of the late Princess Diana, Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton may become engaged soon. On her blog and news website, thedailybeast.com, Brown wrote that she expected an announcement to come in June. Buckingham Palace is remaining mum on the matter. According to “a highly placed source,” June 3 and 4 have been inexplicably blocked out on the palace diaries. Brown speculates that if indeed June brings an engagement announcement, the wedding would likely follow in November, as did the wedding of the prince’s Grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1947.

According to Brown, having a wedding later than that would come in conflict with too many royal family events, including Prince William’s graduation from RAF training and Prince Philip’s 90th birthday in 2011, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

In ever-so-slightly related news, one of the helicopter pilots in training with Prince William, it was recently revealed, will be undergoing gender reassignment surgery. The 29-year-old man will become a woman over the course of approximately 12 months. Whether the pilot is friends with the prince is unclear, and the RAF is downplaying the announcement, saying that the RAF officer’s plans to become a woman were not an issue as long as she can do the job.

In contrast to the more conflicted policies in the U.S. military, the RAF considers the issue “no big deal,” and that the armed forces are “a reflection of society.”

The Sad Story of Ana Ivanovic

1273904088 The Sad Story of Ana IvanovicIs that a W I see before me, right next to Ana Ivanovic’s name?

    Surely not.

Remember when Ana Ivanovic was ranked #1 in the world and was beating Dinara Safina in the Roland Garros final and stuff? I mean, sure, Dinara’s not exactly the bestest player ever at the moment, but she’s still ranked #3. And Ana’s, what, #58?

We are at the point with Ana where it is a big freaking deal when she beats anyone. Gone are the days when she was a serious threat – when seeing yourself drawn against Ivanovic would give you pause and make you scared. Now you might as well just count yourself through the next round.

You know how many match wins Ana has had this year? I wouldn’t quote me on this figure, but I think it’s six. Newsflash: this is not a lot. And now she has one win, and the media is calling it a turning point.

One win is not a turning point. Not for normal people, anyway. However, for Ana, I kind of get where they’re coming from. We’re at the point where any win is a good sign. Even if it’s ‘just’ Elena Vesnina, a solid but unspectacular player.

Time was I’d bet Ana barely knew who Vesnina was. Now beating her is a bust-out-the-champagne cause for celebration.

I was never a huge Ana fan, but you know what this makes me? Sad. Because the whole situation is just so pathetic – someone who was once great is now celebrating the smallest of wins. Mighty. Fallen.
